INK – BLACK n WHITE PORTRAITS

INK – BLACK n WHITE PORTRAITS

Ink is one of my favourite mediums to work with.

To develop my skills, i experimented with ink a lot. I used black ink on white paper, because i liked the high contrast it made. First i tried my best with an feather, but soon i fell in love with small acrylic brushes. The texture of these brushes is more exiting and instinctively. The A1 DIN format is also a good way to practice, because you can work out the lines with the flow of your arm and it´s easier to add details with. For these studys i did no pencil work first. I started directly with color, so i could not correct any mistakes. I was forced to work clean and correct and concentrate on the form and proportions.

The main focus i payd on the faces and the expressions of the portraits. Especially on the eyes and the mouth, because i think they tell most about the feelings and thoughts of the person. To create a good balance between black and white, i draw some bigger black areas, what also helped to make the artwork feel more deep.
